Present Moment Quotes From The Power Of Now
Accept — then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. Eckhart Tolle

The whole essence of Zen consists in walking along the razor’s edge of Now — to be so utterly, so completely present that no problem, no suffering, nothing that is not who you are in your essence, can survive in you. Eckhart Tolle

It is not uncommon for people to spend their whole life waiting to start living. Eckhart Tolle
What the ego sees as weakness is your Being in its purity, innocence. Eckhart Tolle
To complain is always nonacceptance of what is. It invariably carries an unconscious negative charge. When you complain, you make yourself into a victim. Eckhart Tolle
The ego’s needs are endless. It feels vulnerable and threatened and so lives in a state of fear and want. Eckhart Tolle
The intensity of the pain depends on the degree of resistance to the present moment, and this in turn depends on how strongly you are identified with your mind. Eckhart Tolle
In the Now, in the absence of time, all your problems dissolve. Suffering needs time; it cannot survive in the Now. Eckhart Tolle
The mind creates an obsession with the future as an escape from the unsatisfactory present. Eckhart Tolle
The most common ego identifications have to do with possessions, the work you do, social status and recognition, knowledge and education, physical appearance, special abilities, relationships, personal and family history, belief systems, and often also political, nationalistic, racial, religious, and other collective identifications. None of these is you. Eckhart Tolle
Anything “bad” that happens in your life — use it for enlightenment. Eckhart Tolle
If your mind carries a heavy burden of past, you will experience more of the same. The past perpetuates itself through lack of presence. The quality of your consciousness at this moment is what shapes the future. Eckhart Tolle
There are two levels to your pain: the pain that you create now, and the pain from the past that still lives on in your mind and body. Eckhart Tolle
The pollution of the planet is only an outward reflection of an inner psychic pollution: millions of unconscious individuals not taking responsibility for their inner space. Eckhart Tolle
Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry — all forms of fear — are caused by too much future, and not enough presence. Eckhart Tolle
Pain is inevitable as long as you are identified with your mind, which is to say as long as you are unconscious. Eckhart Tolle
Where there is anger there is always pain underneath. Eckhart Tolle
The past cannot survive in your presence. Eckhart Tolle
Mind And Thoughts Quotes From The Power Of Now
You attract and manifest whatever corresponds to your inner state. Eckhart Tolle
The mind always wants to categorize and compare. Eckhart Tolle
Your mind is an instrument, a tool. It is there to be used for a specific task, and when the task is completed, you lay it down. Eckhart Tolle
Why does the mind habitually deny or resist the Now? Because it cannot function and remain in control without time, which is past and future, so it perceives the timeless Now as threatening. Time and mind are in fact inseparable. Eckhart Tolle
The mind unconsciously loves problems because they give you an identity of sorts. Eckhart Tolle
The moment that judgment stops through acceptance of what is, you are free of the mind. Eckhart Tolle
The single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment is this: learn to dis-identify from your mind. Every time you create a gap in the stream of mind, the light of your consciousness grows stronger. Eckhart Tolle
The more you are identified with your mind, the more you suffer. Eckhart Tolle
Don’t be concerned if the mind occasionally succeeds in drawing your attention out of the body and you lose yourself in some thought. As soon as you notice that this has happened, just return your attention to the inner body. Eckhart Tolle
Thinking has become a disease. Disease happens when things get out of balance. Eckhart Tolle
Most people don’t know how to listen because the major part of their attention is taken up by thinking. Eckhart Tolle
Not to be able to stop thinking is a dreadful affliction, but we don’t realize this because almost everybody is suffering from it, so it is considered normal. Eckhart Tolle

Happiness And Acceptance Quotes From The Power Of Now
Love, joy, and peace cannot flourish until you have freed yourself from mind dominance. Eckhart Tolle
Don’t look for any other state than the one you are in now; otherwise, you will set up inner conflict and unconscious resistance. Eckhart Tolle
Forgive yourself for not being at peace. The moment you completely accept your non-peace, your non-peace becomes transmuted into peace. Eckhart Tolle
To surrender is to accept the present moment unconditionally and without reservation. It is to relinquish inner resistance to what is. Eckhart Tolle
Ultimately, this is not about solving your problems. It’s about realizing that there are no problems. Only situations — to be dealt with now, or to be left alone and accepted. Eckhart Tolle
True salvation is fulfillment, peace, life in all its fullness. It is to be who you are, to feel within you the good that has no opposite, the joy of Being that depends on nothing outside itself. Eckhart Tolle
Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you. It is not dependent on some other body, some external form. Eckhart Tolle
Break the old pattern of present-moment denial and present-moment resistance. Make it your practice to withdraw attention from past and future whenever they are not needed. Eckhart Tolle
True salvation is a state of freedom — from fear, from suffering, from a perceived state of lack and insufficiency and therefore from all wanting, needing, grasping, and clinging. Eckhart Tolle
Nothing out there will ever satisfy you except temporarily and superficially, but you may need to experience many disillusionments before you realize that truth. Eckhart Tolle

Conclusion
When you surrender to what is and so become fully present, the past ceases to have any power. You do not need it anymore. Presence is the key. The Now is the key. Eckhart Tolle
Summary – The Power Of Now By Eckhart Tolle
- What’s the core idea of the book? Don’t identify with your mind. You are not your mind. You are much more than that.
- 4 key takeaways
- 1) The “now” contains everything you need to be happy.
- 2) Your ego doesn’t like when you live in the “now”, the unknown. It prefers the known. It prefers control.
- 3) You live too much in your mind and not enough in your body.
- 4) Awareness, observation, and meditation are great ways to separate yourself from your mind and live a better life.
- Is The Power Of Now easy to read? The Power Of Now is not an easy read for people not used to spiritual jargon and concepts (enlightenment, the observer, the mind, being detached, etc.). But if you have a basic understanding, you’ll be fine.
- Is Power Of Now a good book? I give this book 8.5/10. It offered great insights into spirituality. Also, I needed to stretch my mind a few times to grasp some ideas (which is fine). However, this book could have been a little shorter and more practical.
- What did I like the most about this book? It reminded me our minds construct everything in our lives. And the only “problems” are the ones we create in our minds.
